Locating the Plant Camp
Locating the Plant Camp has been the life long work of Dr Frank J Leahy. From 1956 when Dr Leahy enrolled at the University of Melbourne for his Bachelor of Surveying, his passion was understand the work of William John Wills, the surveyor on the 1860 Burke and Wills expedition. With 40 years of gaining experience in the field, and a life long ambition to understand the journals of William John Wills, Dr Leahy finally located the “Plant Camp” where Wills, buried his surveying equipment among many other things. The location today is kept secret to keep treasure hunters away from the area. Although many identified items have been located at the site, the “Holy Grail” ( Sextant, Chronometers, Baromiters, and other Navigational aids) are yet to be dug from the ground. Our mission is to survey and search the area, logging each search and clearing grid by grid, using land mine clearance techniques used by our skilled team who all have experience in the field.

This maps shows where we'll arrive on our first day on the road as we prepare to enter the search area. We will drive the 1150km from Townsville to Bedourie. The Plant Camp IS A SECRET LOCATION, so I cannot give much more details from here, but I can say we are just 2.5 hours drive from here.
